March 2023 Fire

On March 5th, 2023, a massive fire ripped through the Rohingya refugee camp in Ukhiya Upazila, Cox's Bazar. The blaze started in Camp 11 and quickly tore through the bamboo and tarpaulin shelters, spreading to neighboring camps.

Responding swiftly to this crisis, an emergency medical team from HAEFA launched into action treating burns and injuries.

Preventive measures were taken to protect HEAFA health posts and HAEFA staff spearheaded the reconstruction of destroyed shelters. The team also collected important data, such as the number of shelters destroyed and newly homeless FDMNs, to better understand the extent of the damage.
