CENTER FOR HUMAN RIGHTS & HUMANITARIAN STUDIES

During the COVID-19 pandemic, HAEFA partnered with Brown University’s Watson Institute Center for Human Rights & Humanitarian Studies (CHRHS) and Project HOPE to create the Training of Trainers program. This program trained healthcare workers in medical safety procedures in the context of the pandemic.

PHYSICIANS FOR HUMAN RIGHTS

Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) works at the intersection of medicine, science, and law to secure human rights for all and shared in the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize for its work to end the scourge of landmines. In 2020, PHR will partner with HAEFA to conduct workshops and train HAEFA healthcare workers to deliver survivor-centered and trauma-informed care as well as how to appropriately document sexual violence cases. This partnership increased HAEFA's capacity to work with Rohingya people who have survived sexual and gender-based violence.

HEALTH OPPORTUNITIES FOR PEOPLE EVERYWHERE

During the COVID-19 pandemic, HAEFA partnered with Project HOPE and Brown University’s Watson Institute CHRHS to create the Training of Trainers program. This program trained healthcare workers in medical safety procedures in the context of the pandemic.

MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE

Through this partnership, HAEFA is able to refer patients to hospitals in Bangladesh for more specialized treatment. HAEFA also sends weekly reports on its data collection to the Coordination Cell, which helps the Ministry of Health track epidemiologic trends in the population by compiling the reports of all the health posts in the camps.

HAEFA works in collaboration with BRAC in the Rohingya refugee camps in large part through receiving referrals for TB treatment.

HAEFA works in collaboration with IOM in the Rohingya refugee camps and is in discussion with HAEFA about funding medical supplies for the health centers in the Rohingya refugee camps.

UNFPA has hospitals run by the Hope Foundation where HAEFA refers pregnant women with complications in their pregnancy, and they also have women-friendly centers where HAEFA refers sexual assault survivors.

BROWN UNIVERSITY, HARVARD UNIVERSITY, YALE UNIVERSITY, UMASS BOSTON, AND AMERICAN UNIVERSITY

Collaboration with HAEFA includes faculty members contributing their expertise to HAEFA’s work and extending invitations to participate in conferences happening on campuses. Experts from these universities and others have visited the camps to contribute their skills and provide training for Bangladeshi medical professionals. The support of these institutions has also helped to get the word out to students and faculty about the crisis and ways to get involved.
